Ukraine opens the gates of Eastern Europe to Singapore

Economic Development Group is the first company which represented Ukraine in one of the world's largest annual economic forums - 'Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2006' which was held in Singapore on 30 October - 2 November. It is considered to be an Asian "Davos" for hi-tech industry. Besides creation of perspective business contacts, this forum demonstrates technological developments and innovations of Asian-Pacific and Middle Eastern regions.

Main opportunities for business cooperation between Ukraine and Singapore in the framework of 'Global Entrepolis @ Singapore 2006' were introduced during "Investing in Ukraine: Europe's Emerging Tiger" conference, organized by ED Group. It compelled attention of businessmen representing Singaporean consulting and investment companies, venture enterprises, who attended the conference. On the opening ceremony of ED Group conference participants were greeted by H.E. Ambassador of Ukraine to Singapore Dr. Victor Mashtabei, Deputy Director of Singapore Business Federation Mr. Rodger Yeo and President of Economic Development Group Mr. Andrii Karpenko.

During ED Group conference were highlighted the following topics:
- Ukraine as a country with a huge scientific potential, which demands practical realization of its technologies;
- The ability of the newest military industrial developments of Ukraine to compete with the world's leading arms producers;
Also, this conference represented highly qualified specialists in leading scientific and industrial areas, such as: medicine and endoecology IT, energy, metrology, military and defence.

All events, including those, attended by Ukrainian delegation, were subjects to broad Singaporean media coverage. Leading Singaporean newspapers, such as The Straits Times and Business Times (equivalent to Financial Times) published an article and an interview with a head of Ukrainian delegation and the President of Economic Development Group Mr. Andrii Karpenko. It was devoted to the launch of active cooperation between Ukraine and Singapore in high-tech spheres. Mr. Karpenko informed the publicity that Ukrainian business-incubator was set up in Singapore for this purpose. Apart from that, a number of Ukrainian companies plan to organise trade missions to Singapore. Singaporean companies were welcomed to participate in Ukrainian business projects.
