The first visit of Singaporean Delegation organized with the help of Economic Development Group, 4-7 July, 2006
Delegation represented Singapore Tourism Board, Singapore Medicine Department and Uniglobal Company. The main purpose of the visit was to justify the present state of medicine development in Ukraine, to find out about existing exchange programs for doctors, to familiarize themselves with opportunities Ukraine medicine can offer.
As the most popular destinations for the purpose of medical treatment for Ukrainians are Western Europe, USA, Cuba and Israel it was intended to promote Singapore as a new medical treatment destination. Singapore's healthcare system is highly rated in terms of quality, efficiency and accessibility. Singaporean healthcare establishments provide international patients with a full range of basic to specialist inpatient and outpatient healthcare services but unfortunately Ukraine's awareness of the excellent opportunities this country can offer is limited.
For this reason a pioneer delegation representing tourism and medical sector was targeted to Ukraine.
On the other hand Ukraine, as an emerging country can offer splendid opportunities to Singaporean healthcare
institutions for establishment and development of long-term relations and business.
Ukraine's private and state medical institutions expressed interest in acquiring and sharing invaluable
experience of their foreign counterparts.
During the visit members of Singaporean delegation met representatives
of Ukrainian Medical Insurance Company, Tourism Company and Private Medical Clinics. D
uring the meeting important issues like improvement of air flight routes (taking into account distant geographical
location of the countries), possible partnership and opening of a new medical clinic were raised.
As a positive outcome of the mission it was decided that new visits will follow, the earliest of which will
be scheduled for October 2006. In its turn Ukrainian side confirmed high interest and hope for the fruitful
cooperation considering a possibility of organizing familiarization counter visit to Singapore.
